Save Helmi’s Life & Help Jena’s Family

Hello, new friends! I am Mollie Tindle from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. I made this Chuffed fundraising account on behalf of my friend Jena. Our mutual friend Yazan got us in touch on Instagram as they are friends and neighbors in Al Mawasi, an area near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza where many displaced families have sought refuge.
Jena is the oldest sibling in a family of seven that includes: Father, Mahmoud (42), Mother, Mai (33), Jena (16), Helmi (15), Mohammed (13), Fatima (11), and Rafiq (7).
Helmi, the oldest son, was shot in the head seeking aid at the GHF aid station. He is just fifteen years old and is in intenstive care now.
They had a lovely home in Khan Yunis that the IDF destroyed very early on in the war, so Jena’s family has been displaced for a long time.
Here is a message from Jena:
“I am from Gaza, a family of seven. We were displaced and our house was destroyed at the beginning of the war. My sisters and I stopped studying. My father…has a herniated disc in his back. My brother (Helmi) went to American Aid to get some food and he suffered a head injury and is in intensive care.”
Jena is asking the global community for help for her family. The funds we raise will go to the following needs:
– Sending Helmi abroad for life-saving treatment after his gunshot head wound. He is just 15 years old and needs more intensive care than the hospital in Gaza can provide him.
– Food for their family of 7 who is in danger of starvation & malnutrition. Food, vitamins, and medicine are only available at exorbitant prices right now. It costs about $500-$700 for a 25kg bag of flour.
– Safe shelter near enough to the hospital where Helmi is so they can be with him.
We really hope that you will be able to help Jena and her family, including young Helmi who was horribly injured while valiantly trying to find food for his family. Imagine how you would feel in Jena’s shoes – imagine how desperate and brave you must be to message strangers asking for money for food.
Jena’s family wants the same safety, peace, and stability that all families across our world want. They deserve dignity and safety just like everyone else.
